Vinny's List is actively maintained: the data refreshes every day and the product ships regularly. Here's the trail — including the two attempts that came before it, because what went wrong in them is why this one is built the way it is.

Timeline

• 2026-07-29Rebuilt the directory for phones — readable rows, and a search box that stays put when you scroll.
• 2026-07-15Job listings marked up for Google Jobs; llms.txt published so AI search engines can cite the data.
• 2026-07-07Federal contract history on matched shops — award totals, typical award size, and what's expiring.
• 2026-06-28Added institutional opportunities — universities, community colleges, counties & health systems.
• 2026-06-27Added “Source what you buy”: each shop's likely outsourced processes, one tap to a free RFQ.
• 2026-06-26Jobs directory live — open roles at US manufacturers, pulled daily from the shops' own job boards.
• 2026-06-20Set-aside & federal-contractor verification from SAM.gov, matched to shops.
• 2026-06-12Opportunities directory live — federal, state & local RFQs, grants & awards.
• 2026-06-01Vinny's List opens: 35,000+ US manufacturers, free, no login.
• 2025-08Published the whole list as a public download — no account, no email, no strings.
• 2025-07Expanded the list to 350,000 companies, then checked which ones actually had a live website. Most didn't — that answer became this directory.
• 2024-10Wound down — craftinterface.com retired.
• 2024-07Craft Interface — the same codebase, renamed, scaled to over 300,000 companies. Breadth turned out to be the easy part — most rows were a name and a dot on a map, with nothing you could act on.
• 2024-03Omninac — first attempt at a US manufacturer directory: company names and locations, and not much else.

Vinny's List went the other way: 61,480 verified manufacturer websites, every one with a real site behind it. Fewer companies, each one you can contact.
