The Role Some accounting jobs are about keeping the books clean at a company where nothing changes. The chart of accounts was set years ago. The close runs itself. That's a fine job. It's not this one. We're looking for an accountant who has done the work inside a fast-moving company and wants to own it here. You know what a tight month-end close looks like because you've run one. You've processed AP, reconciled accounts, managed expense reports, and chased down the transactions that didn't make sense. You care about accuracy, and you care about speed, because you know financials only matter if people can act on them. We're building hardware at scale. That means inventory, purchase orders, vendors, and real physical costs moving through the business. If you've touched inventory or manufacturing accounting, even better. If you haven't, you should be excited to learn it. You'll work closely with our finance leadership and own the day-to-day accounting operations that keep the company running. What You'll Do • Own the month-end close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules • Run the AP process end to end: invoice intake, coding, approvals, and vendor payments • Administer the corporate credit card program and expense reporting, including policy enforcement • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time • Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts monthly • Support inventory and fixed asset accounting as we scale hardware production • Assist with audit preparation, tax filings, and compliance requirements • Help document and improve accounting processes and internal controls • Partner with finance leadership on reporting that keeps the financials accurate, timely, and decision-ready What We're Looking For Required • 5+ years of accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field • Hands-on experience with AP, expense management, and account reconciliations • Strong working knowledge of GAAP • Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Excel • High attention to detail and a track record of clean, accurate work under deadlines Strongly Preferred • Experience at a venture-backed startup or high-growth company • Exposure to inventory, fixed asset, or manufacturing accounting (WIP, COGS, standard costs) • Experience supporting external audits • Aerospace or defense industry background Nice to Have • CPA or CPA in progress • Familiarity with government contracting compliance (DCAA, FAR) • Experience implementing or migrating accounting systems • Experience building process documentation from scratch What We Offer - Meaningful equity in a high-growth defense technology company - Competitive base salary commensurate with experience - Medical, dental, vision, and 401k - PTO and paid sick leave - Monthly wellness stipend - Daily catered lunch (office) - Paid parental leave - Direct impact on a critical national security mission - A world-class team of engineers and operators solving genuinely hard problems
