Want to combine software, AI, robotics, electronics, and life science into products that scientists use to make new discoveries? We're looking for a Software Engineer to help create custom automation solutions on our newest platform, Stuntman. You'll develop software, AI-assisted tools, and automation workflows that bring together robotics, motion control, liquid handling, optics, temperature control, and precision instrumentation into systems that solve real customer challenges.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>This is a rare opportunity to own projects from concept through customer delivery. You'll work alongside mechanical, electrical, software, and applications engineers to turn new ideas into working instruments. We move fast, tackle difficult technical challenges, and build systems that simply don't exist anywhere else.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Responsible for delivering custom lab automation software, firmware, and scripting solutions to the end customer</li> <li>Develop software for interacting with and controlling automation hardware</li> <li>Collaborate with domain experts to specify, design, and create extensions to the Unchained software platform</li> <li>Hit the ground running, and provide clinical execution in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment</li> <li>Work with Sales team to develop novel custom solutions and scope them</li> <li>Excited about and comfortable using AI to generate, troubleshoot, and debug</li> <li>Hands on testing and development on the hardware</li> <li>Have a passion for learning new skills, technologies, and science</li> <li>Bring a very positive, and highly energetic attitude to all aspects of your work</li> <li>Be flexible and ready when the going gets tough to help us do whatever needs to get done to meet our customer’s needs</li> <li>Occasionally assist Product Support Engineers to resolve escalated customer issues relating to automation software</li> <li>Full-time based at our HQ in Pleasanton, CA&nbsp;</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience with hardware communication using CANBUS, Serial (232/485), TCP/IP, USB, MODBUS, and i2C</li> <li>Experience with trouble shooting automated equipment</li> <li>Excellent C# programming skills, including deep knowledge of multi-threaded and event-based designs</li> <li>Excellent knowledge of Python</li> <li>Good working knowledge of C++ with ATL/COM</li> <li>Good at being self-directed to complete projects on time that meet the customer’s requirements</li> <li>Experience with Git desirable</li> <li>UI development skills using WPF</li> <li>Require
